What are we learning this term

Learning in action

Prehistoric Painting

Year 3 and 4 have been working to build a good understanding of colour mixing with natural pigments, making their own paint and paper. They have used scale to enlarge drawings using different mediums. Some amazing artwork!

Egyptian Scrolls

As part of their Ancient Egypt topic, Year 3 and 4 have been learning about the way colour, scale and pattern influenced ancient Egyptian art. They have explored the technique of papermaking to create a papyrus-style scroll.

Segedunum Roman Fort

As part of their Romans history work, Year 3 and 4 visited Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend. They learned what life was like in the Fort and pretended to be new recruits in the Roman army arriving for training. They also had the opportunity to explore the fort remains and discover what life was like nearly 2000 years ago!

Sugar Skulls

This half term, we have been developing our drawing skills using line, texture and tone. We used different lines and techniques such as cross hatching and stippling to add texture to our drawings.

We used all our skills to design our own Mexican Sugar Skull.
