What are we learning this term

Learning in Action…

I Need Space

Year 5 and 6 have been learning about retrofuturism in Art. They have been exploring a range of drawing processes and using texture to create a collagraph plate to print. Their art work is out of this world!

Architecture

As part of their architecture art focus, Year 5 and 6 have been investigating the built environment through drawing and printmaking, learning about the work of architect Zaha Hadid and creating their own building designs as well as finding out about the artist Hundertwasser.

Wonder

Year 5 have been reading Wonder, a story about a boy born with a facial abnormality who has been home-schooled but now, for the first time, he’s being sent to a real school. The children researched Treacher Collin Syndrome and created an informative fact sheet about it.

Sustainable Fashion

This half term, we have been designing and making bags using recycled materials and fabrics. We researched products currently on the market and how they made sure their products were sustainable. After designing them using 3D software, we made our bags from recycled clothes and added the finishing touches.
