At St. Mary’s CE Primary School, the RE curriculum is designed to enable the children to gain knowledge and understanding of the beliefs and practices of religious and non-religious worldviews, so that they can live and work together with people with very different views from themselves. We want the children to develop greater respect and empathy for others.
Right to Withdraw from Religious Education
At St. Mary’s Primary School, we recognise and respect the rights of parents and carers to withdraw their child from all or part of the Religious Education (RE) curriculum. This is in accordance with the Education Act 1996 and the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.
If you wish to exercise this right, we kindly ask that you make a written request to the Headteacher. We are happy to discuss any concerns or questions you may have about the RE curriculum and how it is delivered at our school.
Our aim is always to work in partnership with families to ensure that every child feels included, respected, and supported in their learning journey.
